Tomorrow, I Leave

Tomorrow, I head off for my exciting new adventure in Washington, D.C.! I’ve been running around like mad trying to get all the silly little details sorted out before I go. I always find it astonishing, whenever it’s time for a move, how many tiny things are involved in packing up one’s life to put it down elsewhere. It’s so easy to say “I’m moving to D.C. for four months” and so much harder to actually do it.

Anyways, things are coming together, which is gratifying. As long as there are no visa issues during my stop-over in Ottawa (which is only for an hour, don’t anyone get excited), I should be arriving in D.C. as scheduled. Then, of course, I’ll have to make it to where I’m living, unpack enough things to get me through to the weekend, figure out what my schedule actually is this week, and then start panicking about what to wear to the State Department.

Oh. Yeah. I’m visiting the State Department this week.

The last couple of times I’ve done big moves or trips on my own, there’s been some trepidation. Not this time; I am completely excited about this four month term. I feel completely ready and prepared (as long as I don’t think about everything I need to pack today) and all set to take this big exciting jump. Hopefully the landing isn’t too painful!

  1. So excited for you! I want to find a way to come visit. You can introduce me to Obama.
